Part I: Competition Regulations

1. Purpose and status

1.1. The Sri Lanka Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (SLAIO) is Sri Lanka's national artificial intelligence competition for school students and the official national selection pathway used by IFSET to select students to represent Sri Lanka at IOAI.

1.2. These Regulations protect the fairness, integrity, safety, and reputation of SLAIO and govern:

• registration and eligibility;
• all competition rounds and associated training programs;
• scoring, advancement, rankings, awards, and team selection;
• participation in training camps, meetings, ceremonies, travel, IOAI, APOAI, and other activities connected with SLAIO or IFSET; and
• conduct in person, online, and in public communications where the student is identifiable as a participant, finalist, award recipient, team member, or representative.

1.3. Registration for, attendance at, or participation in any SLAIO activity constitutes agreement to these Regulations and the Code of Conduct. A parent or legal guardian must provide any consent required for a participant who is a minor.

1.4. Competition announcements, task instructions, platform rules, proctor directions, travel requirements, and written notices issued by SLAIO or IFSET form part of these Regulations. If documents conflict, the most recent specific written instruction issued by the SLAIO Board applies, subject to the rules of IOAI, APOAI, a host organization, or applicable law where those rules govern the relevant event.

2. Definitions

For these Regulations:

• APOAI means the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence.
• Board or SLAIO Board means the body authorized by IFSET to govern SLAIO and make final administrative and disciplinary decisions.
• Competition materials include questions, tasks, datasets, code, model files, test cases, solutions, marking schemes, credentials, and any information designated confidential.
• IFSET means the Institute for Science, Engineering, and Technology.
• IOAI means the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence.
• Official includes a Board member, organizer, examiner, marker, invigilator, proctor, trainer, team leader, deputy leader, volunteer, or other person authorized by SLAIO or IFSET.
• Participant or student means any person who registers for or takes part in an activity covered by these Regulations.
• Round instructions means the written or verbal rules issued for a particular examination, task, platform, training session, or event.
• Team member means a student who has accepted an invitation to represent Sri Lanka at IOAI, APOAI, or another international event through SLAIO or IFSET.

3. Administration and authority

3.1. SLAIO is administered by IFSET. The SLAIO Board has authority to interpret and apply these Regulations, verify eligibility, supervise competition rounds, determine results, investigate suspected violations, impose sanctions, and resolve matters not expressly covered here.

3.2. Academic decisions may be delegated to examiners, markers, a jury, or another committee appointed by the Board. Operational decisions may be delegated to authorized officials.

3.3. The Board may amend dates, venues, formats, platforms, qualification thresholds, finalist numbers, or procedures where reasonably necessary for fairness, safety, operational requirements, changes to an international competition, or circumstances beyond the organizers' control. Material changes will be communicated through an official SLAIO channel.

3.4. Instructions given by an authorized official during an event must be followed promptly. A student who believes an instruction conflicts with these Regulations must comply at the time unless doing so would create an immediate safety risk, and may raise the matter through the review procedure in Section 15.

4. Eligibility

4.1. For SLAIO 2027, a participant must satisfy all of the following conditions:

• be a Sri Lankan citizen;
• have been born after 1 July 2007; and
• not have registered for or taken any coursework at a university.

4.2. A student must remain eligible throughout every stage for which eligibility is required, including national-team registration. The student must also satisfy the current eligibility rules of IOAI, APOAI, or another relevant international event.

4.3. SLAIO may require proof of citizenship, date of birth, school enrollment, education history, identity, or any other fact relevant to eligibility. Acceptable proof may include a passport, national identity document, birth certificate, school letter, or declaration in the form requested by SLAIO.

4.4. A student who supplies false, incomplete, misleading, altered, or unverifiable information may be disqualified and treated as having violated these Regulations.

4.5. Eligibility questions must be disclosed to SLAIO as early as possible. Allowing a student to sit a round while verification is pending does not confirm eligibility or create a right to advance, receive an award, or join a team.

5. Registration and communications

5.1. Registration for SLAIO is free. A participant may register only once and must use the participant's own legal identity and accurate contact information.

5.2. Registration is personal and may not be transferred. Accounts, passwords, access links, and examination credentials may not be shared.

5.3. Participants are responsible for monitoring the email address and other contact channels supplied during registration, including spam or junk folders, and for meeting all stated deadlines.

5.4. Where a response, confirmation, document, or payment is required by a deadline, failure to complete it may be treated as declining the relevant opportunity. SLAIO is not responsible for an incorrect address, a full inbox, an unread message, or another communication failure within the participant's control.

5.5. A student must promptly notify SLAIO of any change to the student's name, contact details, school, eligibility, medical needs relevant to participation, or ability to attend a required activity.

6. Competition structure

6.1. SLAIO 2027 consists of three competition rounds and an associated training program:

6.1.1. Open Round

• Conducted online.
• A 90-minute multiple-choice examination that may be completed at any permitted time before the published closing deadline.
• No prior programming or artificial intelligence knowledge is required.

6.1.2. Free Training Program

• Conducted online between the Open Round and the Qualifier Round.
• Covers programming skills and artificial intelligence concepts.
• Students are encouraged to complete the Open Round early to obtain the maximum available training time.
• Participation requirements, attendance expectations, recordings, and access conditions will be communicated separately.

6.1.3. Qualifier Round

• Conducted online under proctored conditions.
• Open to every otherwise eligible and compliant participant who scores at least 30 points in the Open Round.
• Uses programming and artificial intelligence tasks.

6.1.4. Final Round

• Conducted in person in Colombo.
• Invitations are issued to the top scorers in the Qualifier Round, with the number of finalists determined and announced by SLAIO.
• Uses artificial intelligence tasks similar in style to the IOAI format.
• The four highest-ranked eligible students in the Final Round will ordinarily be offered places to represent Sri Lanka at both IOAI and APOAI, subject to verification, compliance, acceptance, and any applicable international rules.

6.2. The published schedule for SLAIO 2027 appears in Appendix A. Participants must rely on the latest official announcement for exact opening times, closing times, reporting times, venues, and technical arrangements.

6.3. Advancement is personal and non-transferable. A place may be withheld or withdrawn if a participant is ineligible, misses a deadline, fails to complete required verification, breaches these Regulations, or cannot meet a condition of the next stage.

6.4. If an invited finalist or selected team member does not accept by the deadline, is removed, is unable to participate, or receives an approved release, SLAIO may offer the place to the next eligible student according to the official ranking or conduct an additional assessment if the Board considers one necessary.

7. General examination conditions

7.1. Every participant must:

• sit the examination personally and independently;
• start, work on, and submit the examination only within the permitted period;
• follow all task, platform, equipment, identification, invigilation, and proctoring instructions;
• use only the resources, software, models, libraries, devices, notes, websites, and communication channels expressly permitted for that round;
• keep competition materials confidential until SLAIO officially releases them; and
• stop working immediately when instructed or when time expires.

7.2. Possession or use of a prohibited resource is a violation whether or not it demonstrably improves the participant's score.

7.3. Artificial intelligence tools, code-generation systems, chatbots, search engines, online repositories, personal notes, and prewritten code may be used only to the extent expressly permitted in the round instructions. Silence in the instructions does not create permission; the participant must ask an official before use.

7.4. Participants must not record, photograph, screenshot, download, copy, transmit, publish, discuss, reverse engineer, or otherwise preserve confidential competition materials except where the round instructions explicitly permit it.

7.5. Participants may ask an official for clarification about procedure or an apparent ambiguity. Officials are not required to provide guidance that would reveal a solution or confer an unfair advantage.

8. Academic integrity and prohibited conduct

8.1. Cheating, attempted cheating, facilitating cheating, and other academic violations are prohibited.

8.2. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:

• impersonating another person or allowing another person to participate under the student's identity;
• obtaining, requesting, receiving, offering, or providing unauthorized assistance;
• communicating with another participant or third party during an individual assessment, except as expressly authorized;
• collaborating, colluding, copying, plagiarizing, or submitting work not produced as permitted by the task rules;
• using unauthorized artificial intelligence systems, code, notes, websites, datasets, devices, accounts, or software;
• accessing, seeking, distributing, or exploiting leaked questions, solutions, datasets, test cases, credentials, or other confidential materials;
• submitting the same or substantially similar work through multiple accounts or coordinating submissions to manipulate scoring;
• falsifying identity, eligibility, logs, timestamps, technical-failure evidence, medical information, or another material fact;
• bypassing or interfering with proctoring, monitoring, plagiarism detection, access controls, submission limits, or platform restrictions;
• probing, attacking, disrupting, overloading, or gaining unauthorized access to any competition system or another participant's equipment or account;
• exploiting a technical defect in a way that a reasonable participant would understand to be unintended, without promptly reporting it; or
• helping, encouraging, concealing, or failing to report a known serious breach.

8.3. Similarity between submissions, platform logs, proctoring records, communications, files, metadata, witness accounts, and other reliable evidence may be used in an investigation. A finding need not depend on direct observation during the competition.

8.4. A participant who becomes aware of an accidental rule breach or unintended access to confidential material must stop, preserve relevant evidence, and report it immediately. Prompt self-reporting may be considered when the Board determines the facts, but it does not erase the breach.

9. Online and proctored rounds

9.1. Participants are responsible for arranging a functioning computer, stable internet connection, electricity, permitted software, and a quiet testing environment unless SLAIO announces otherwise.

9.2. A proctored round may require identity verification, a camera, microphone, screen sharing, room or desk scans, browser restrictions, activity logging, and continuous presence. Refusal or inability to complete a required check may prevent participation or invalidate the attempt.

9.3. No unauthorized person may be present, communicate with the participant, view the assessment, or assist with the participant's equipment during a proctored individual round.

9.4. A participant experiencing a technical failure must notify the designated official immediately through the announced channel and follow the official's instructions. The participant should retain screenshots, logs, or other evidence where possible. Reports made only after the round may be rejected if timely reporting was reasonably possible.

9.5. SLAIO may, but is not required to, grant a restart, extension, alternative sitting, score adjustment, or other remedy. Any remedy will consider the available evidence, equal treatment of participants, examination security, and operational feasibility.

10. In-person rounds and events

10.1. Participants must report at the stated place and time with all required identification, consent forms, equipment, and materials. Late admission is at the discretion of the responsible official and extra time will not ordinarily be granted.

10.2. Participants must comply with venue rules, safety instructions, seating assignments, device-storage requirements, and instructions regarding entry, exit, breaks, food, and personal belongings.

10.3. Unauthorized devices or materials may be removed from the testing area. SLAIO is not responsible for loss or damage except to the extent required by law.

10.4. A participant who is ill, requires an accessibility adjustment, or has another condition affecting safe participation should notify SLAIO as early as reasonably possible. SLAIO will consider reasonable arrangements subject to evidence, fairness, security, and available resources.

11. Scoring, ranking, and advancement

11.1. Each round will be scored using its announced marking scheme, automated judge, evaluation metric, or other published method. Partial credit, penalties, submission limits, and tie-breaking rules apply only as stated for that round.

11.2. Automated or provisional scores may be reviewed for plagiarism, rule compliance, eligibility, judge errors, corrupted submissions, or other anomalies before results become final.

11.3. If participants are tied at an advancement or team-selection boundary, SLAIO will apply the announced tie-break procedure. If none was announced or the announced procedure does not resolve the tie, the Board may use a Board-approved academic tie-break, including designated task scores or an additional assessment. The method must be applied consistently to all students in the tie.

11.4. SLAIO may correct clerical, marking, judging, or publication errors at any time. A correction may change a score, rank, advancement decision, award, or team offer.

11.5. Results are not final until officially confirmed by SLAIO. Screenshots, platform displays, unofficial leaderboards, predictions, and third-party reports do not create an entitlement to a rank, award, or place.

11.6. Selection is subject not only to performance but also to eligibility, honesty, compliance with these Regulations, and completion of all required administrative steps.

12. Awards and recognition

12.1. SLAIO may issue certificates and medals to top performers according to criteria announced for the relevant edition.

12.2. Only eligible participants in good standing may receive or retain a rank, certificate, medal, distinction, team designation, or other recognition.

12.3. A student found to have violated these Regulations or the Code of Conduct will be excluded from the relevant and all future award lists even if the student's score or performance would otherwise have qualified. SLAIO may remove the student's name from published results and revoke any certificate, medal, title, team status, or other recognition already announced or issued.

12.4. Awards and team places may not be sold, transferred, assigned, or represented as applying to a different person, year, round, or achievement.

13. Selection for IOAI and other international events

13.1. Subject to Section 11, the four highest-ranked eligible students in the SLAIO Final Round will ordinarily be invited to represent Sri Lanka at both IOAI and APOAI.

13.2. An invitation is not accepted until the student and, if the student is a minor, the student's parent or legal guardian submit the required acceptance and consent documents by the stated deadline.

13.3. Before accepting, the student and parent or guardian must carefully consider the event dates, academic commitments, passport and visa requirements, health, travel readiness, training schedule, conduct obligations, and expected costs. They must disclose any known circumstance that may prevent full participation.

13.4. Acceptance of an IOAI team place is binding. A student who withdraws for any reason after accepting commits a violation of these Regulations unless the SLAIO Board has approved an exception in writing under Section 13.6 before the withdrawal.

13.5. No refund will be issued for any participation-related fee or expense paid by or for a student who withdraws after accepting a team place. This includes amounts paid toward registration, accreditation, travel, accommodation, visas, insurance, uniforms, training, excursions, meals, administration, or other delegation expenses, whether the amount has already been committed to a third party or not. The no-refund rule also applies when the student is removed for misconduct, ineligibility, noncompliance, or failure to meet a deadline.

13.6. An exception to the binding-acceptance rule may be granted only:

• in extreme circumstances that could not reasonably have been anticipated or avoided when the place was accepted;
• after the student or parent or guardian submits a prompt written request with supporting evidence;
• before the student withdraws; and
• through an official written decision of the SLAIO Board.

Financial inconvenience, a change of preference, avoidable scheduling conflicts, insufficient preparation, ordinary academic pressure, or acceptance of another opportunity will not ordinarily constitute extreme circumstances. Approval of an exceptional withdrawal does not create a right to a refund.

13.7. Team members must:

• attend and participate fully in required training, meetings, assessments, ceremonies, travel briefings, and official activities;
• complete forms, payments, passport, visa, insurance, medical, safeguarding, and travel requirements by the stated deadlines;
• remain academically and administratively eligible;
• follow the lawful and reasonable instructions of the team leader, deputy leader, IFSET, SLAIO, the host organization, and venue or travel authorities;
• keep nonpublic team information, tasks, strategies, credentials, and communications confidential;
• wear or use official identification, uniforms, and branding as instructed; and
• represent Sri Lanka, SLAIO, and IFSET with honesty, discipline, courtesy, and care.

13.8. Selection does not guarantee that travel, visas, entry permission, funding, sponsorship, or participation will be available. Students and families remain responsible for matters assigned to them in official instructions. SLAIO may replace a team member who misses a deadline, becomes ineligible, violates these Regulations, cannot lawfully travel, or cannot fulfill the role.

13.9. The Board may nominate alternates or reserve students. An alternate has no entitlement to a team place unless and until SLAIO issues a formal invitation and the alternate accepts it.

13.10. IOAI, APOAI, and host-organization regulations apply in addition to this document. A breach of those rules is also a breach of these Regulations.

14. Fees, costs, sponsorship, and refunds

14.1. SLAIO registration is free. Participation in later national or international activities may nevertheless involve costs such as travel, passports, visas, insurance, accommodation, uniforms, meals, local transport, or an international organizer's participation fee.

14.2. Any required amount, payment deadline, included item, and payment method will be communicated separately. A student must not assume that sponsorship or financial assistance will be available unless SLAIO confirms it in writing.

14.3. Money paid directly to airlines, embassies, insurers, hotels, international organizers, or other third parties is subject to the relevant provider's terms. SLAIO does not guarantee recovery of such amounts.

14.4. The no-refund provisions in Section 13 apply once a student has accepted an international team place. Any other refund, if applicable, is determined by the written terms issued for the particular payment.

15. Queries, score reviews, complaints, and appeals

15.1. A participant may submit a good-faith query about a score, procedure, eligibility decision, or alleged breach to the channel and within the deadline announced for the relevant matter. If no special channel is announced, the query may be sent to contact@slaio.org.

15.2. A submission must identify the student and decision, state the specific alleged error, and include relevant evidence. General dissatisfaction, a request for discretionary marks, or comparison with another participant is not by itself a ground for review.

15.3. Unless SLAIO announces a different period, a request for review must be received within three calendar days after the relevant result or decision is communicated. The Board may accept a late request only where exceptional circumstances prevented timely submission.

15.4. A review may confirm, vary, or reverse the original decision. It may also reveal an error that reduces a score or rank. The Board's written determination is final within SLAIO.

15.5. A student may report misconduct, harassment, safety concerns, conflicts of interest, or suspected cheating. Knowingly false, malicious, or retaliatory allegations are themselves violations. Good-faith reporting, participation in an investigation, and respectful criticism through appropriate channels are protected and will not be treated as reputational misconduct merely because they raise an uncomfortable issue.

16. Investigation and disciplinary procedure

16.1. SLAIO may investigate any suspected violation before or after a round, result, award, selection, trip, or event.

16.2. The Board may take interim measures, including withholding results, suspending access, preserving logs, separating participants, or temporarily removing a person from an activity, where reasonably necessary to protect safety, evidence, fairness, or the competition.

16.3. Before a final adverse finding, the student will ordinarily receive notice of the material allegation and a reasonable opportunity to respond. The Board may contact parents or guardians, schools, witnesses, platform providers, international organizers, or relevant authorities where appropriate and lawful.

16.4. Decisions will be based on the information reasonably available to the Board. A participant's refusal to cooperate, deletion of evidence, dishonesty, witness interference, or retaliation may be considered separately and may support adverse inferences where appropriate.

16.5. If the Board finds that a student violated these Regulations or the Code of Conduct, the student will:

• be disqualified from the relevant round, activity, selection, or delegation;
• be excluded from the applicable and all future award and recognition lists, even if otherwise eligible;
• forfeit or return any affected certificate, medal, title, team place, or other recognition; and
• be excluded from all future IFSET events, programs, delegations, and selection processes, including but not limited to SLAIO and participation in IOAI and APOAI through IFSET.

16.6. Where necessary, results and team selections may be recalculated after a disqualification. The next eligible student does not automatically receive a vacated award or place unless the Board confirms the reassignment.

16.7. SLAIO or IFSET may notify a parent or guardian, school, examination platform, sponsor, host organization, IOAI, APOAI, law-enforcement agency, safeguarding authority, or another relevant body where this is reasonably necessary or legally required.

16.8. A Board decision is final. A student may request reconsideration only on the basis of significant new evidence that could not reasonably have been provided earlier or a material procedural error. Such a request must normally be made within three calendar days of the decision and does not suspend it.

17. Privacy, recordings, and publicity

17.1. SLAIO and IFSET may collect and use registration details, eligibility documents, submissions, scores, platform logs, proctoring data, photographs, video, audio, correspondence, travel information, and safeguarding or medical information to administer the competition and related activities.

17.2. Information may be shared with service providers, examiners, venues, travel providers, sponsors where appropriate, IOAI, APOAI, host organizations, and public authorities to the extent reasonably required for administration, safety, integrity, travel, compliance, or law.

17.3. SLAIO may publish participant names, schools, photographs, results, ranks, awards, and team selections through official websites, social media, press releases, reports, and event materials, subject to applicable consent and law. Additional consent will be obtained where required.

17.4. Proctored or official activities may be recorded for integrity, safety, training, documentation, or publicity. Participants will be informed where consent or notice is required.

17.5. Participants must not publish another person's private information, images, recordings, or communications without authorization.

18. Competition materials and intellectual property

18.1. All rights in SLAIO-created questions, datasets, solutions, branding, publications, and confidential materials remain with their respective owners. Access for participation does not grant a right to reproduce, distribute, commercialize, or adapt those materials.

18.2. Participants retain ownership of original work they create, subject to any third-party rights and task-specific terms. By submitting work, a participant permits SLAIO and IFSET to store, copy, process, test, review, and compare it for competition administration, integrity checks, record keeping, and dispute resolution.

18.3. SLAIO may request separate permission before publicly reproducing a participant's source code, report, model, or other substantial submission, unless publication is already authorized by the round instructions or necessary to publish official results, investigate misconduct, or comply with law.

18.4. The names, logos, uniforms, credentials, certificates, and branding of SLAIO, IFSET, IOAI, and APOAI may not be altered, misused, or used to imply an endorsement, role, result, or authority that has not been officially granted.

19. Events beyond the organizers' control

19.1. SLAIO may postpone, relocate, reformat, shorten, extend, replace, or cancel an activity because of public-health concerns, severe weather, civil disruption, security risks, platform failure, loss of venue, changes to an international event, government restrictions, or another circumstance beyond reasonable control.

19.2. SLAIO will make reasonable efforts to preserve fairness and provide notice, but participation, selection, travel, and awards cannot be guaranteed. Financial treatment in such circumstances will depend on funds actually recoverable from third parties and any written terms that apply, except that the no-refund rule following a student's post-acceptance withdrawal remains governed by Section 13.

20. Interpretation and amendments

20.1. Headings and examples assist understanding but do not limit the scope of a rule. Words such as “including” and “includes” are not exhaustive.

20.2. If part of these Regulations is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted.

20.3. The Board may issue amendments to correct omissions, address new circumstances, protect the competition, or align SLAIO with IFSET, IOAI, or APOAI requirements. An amendment becomes effective when published or communicated through an official channel, unless a later effective date is stated.

20.4. The English version is the authoritative version unless the Board expressly adopts another language version as equally authoritative.

Part II: Student Code of Conduct

21. Scope and standard

21.1. This Code applies throughout all SLAIO and related IFSET activities, including registration, online platforms, training, examinations, ceremonies, travel, accommodation, social events, IOAI, APOAI, public appearances, and relevant online conduct.

21.2. Students are expected to act as responsible competitors and, once selected, as representatives of Sri Lanka. They must protect the dignity, fairness, safety, and educational purpose of the Olympiad community.

22. Academic honesty

Every student must:

• produce independent work except where collaboration is expressly required;
• acknowledge permitted external material as instructed;
• use only authorized resources and tools;
• protect confidential tasks, data, credentials, and solutions;
• report accidental access, conflicts, or material irregularities promptly; and
• never cheat, attempt to cheat, enable cheating, conceal cheating, or obtain an unfair advantage.

23. Respect, inclusion, and professional behavior

Every student must:

• treat participants, officials, volunteers, teachers, hosts, sponsors, and members of the public with courtesy and respect;
• respect differences in nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, caste, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, appearance, socioeconomic background, school, and level of experience;
• communicate disagreements calmly and through appropriate channels;
• respect personal boundaries, privacy, property, facilities, and local customs; and
• contribute to a welcoming environment in which students can learn and compete safely.

The following are prohibited:

• bullying, hazing, harassment, discrimination, humiliation, intimidation, stalking, threats, or retaliation;
• sexual harassment, unwanted sexual attention, or inappropriate physical contact;
• abusive, obscene, degrading, or persistently disruptive language or conduct;
• violence, dangerous behavior, possession of prohibited weapons, or deliberate damage to property;
• theft, fraud, bribery, coercion, or misuse of funds;
• possession or use of illegal drugs, misuse of medication, underage use of alcohol or tobacco, or attending an activity while impaired; and
• encouraging, assisting, concealing, or normalizing prohibited conduct.

24. Safety and safeguarding

24.1. Students must follow safety, supervision, accommodation, transport, curfew, buddy-system, health, emergency, and safeguarding instructions.

24.2. A student must promptly report an injury, illness, lost travel document, missing person, threat, harassment, unsafe situation, or safeguarding concern to the team leader or another responsible official.

24.3. Students must not leave an official venue, accommodation, delegation, or supervised activity without the permission required by team rules. They must not invite unauthorized persons into controlled areas or accommodation.

24.4. Retaliation against a person who makes a good-faith safety or misconduct report is prohibited.

25. Public communications, social media, and reputation

25.1. Students must not engage in conduct that may reasonably be expected to damage the reputation or public perception of SLAIO, IFSET, IOAI, or APOAI. This obligation applies in person and online, before, during, and after a competition where the conduct has a material connection to participation or representation.

25.2. Prohibited reputational conduct includes, but is not limited to:

• false or misleading claims about results, team membership, awards, rules, officials, sponsors, or other participants;
• abusive, discriminatory, threatening, defamatory, or grossly disrespectful public communications;
• disclosure of confidential competition, team, personal, safeguarding, or travel information;
• unauthorized statements made on behalf of SLAIO, IFSET, Team Sri Lanka, IOAI, or APOAI;
• misuse of official names, logos, uniforms, images, credentials, or sponsorship relationships;
• public attacks on the integrity of the competition made recklessly or dishonestly rather than through the review or complaint process; or
• unlawful or seriously improper conduct that becomes associated with the student's role in the competition or delegation.

25.3. Students may identify themselves accurately as participants, finalists, award recipients, or team members only after the relevant status is officially confirmed and only for as long as that status remains valid.

25.4. Good-faith complaints, truthful reports to appropriate authorities, protected disclosures, and respectful evidence-based criticism are not prohibited merely because they may be uncomfortable or unfavorable. Students should use the procedures in Section 15 where reasonably possible.

26. Conduct as a national-team member

In addition to the rest of this Code, a team member must:

• place team integrity and national representation above personal publicity or rivalry;
• cooperate respectfully with teammates, leaders, trainers, organizers, and host-country personnel;
• attend required activities punctually and prepared;
• comply with delegation decisions on logistics, safety, media, uniforms, and official representation;
• avoid conduct that distracts from another team member's preparation or performance;
• protect passports, credentials, equipment, and official materials entrusted to the student;
• notify the team leader immediately of any issue that may affect eligibility, travel, safety, attendance, or performance; and
• comply with the binding acceptance and withdrawal provisions in Section 13.

27. Duty to cooperate and report

27.1. Students must cooperate honestly with reasonable integrity, safety, eligibility, and disciplinary inquiries.

27.2. A student who witnesses suspected cheating, harassment, a serious safety risk, or another material violation should report it promptly to an official or to contact@slaio.org. Immediate danger should also be reported to local emergency or venue authorities.

27.3. Reports should be factual and, where possible, include dates, locations, witnesses, screenshots, or other relevant evidence. Students must not conduct intrusive investigations themselves, spread allegations publicly, or retaliate against any person involved.
